Symposium Pig Husbandry in Limburg in 2020

On 10 October, Fancom, together with LLTB, Rabobank Peel en Maas, and Koenen en Co accountants organised a symposium specifically aimed at pig farmers in Limburg. During the meeting an impression of the landscape of pig keeping in our region in ten years' time was sketched.

Trend watcher Rob Creemers gave an inspiring presentation about the developments the pig husbandry sector is likely to be faced with in the coming years. The next to speak was Leo den Hartog, Professor at WUR and Director of R&D at Nutreco. He was charged with the task of transforming the trends of the future into a modern and sustainable form of pig husbandry.

And finally, pig farmer Mark Tijssen polled the opinions of the farmers present at the meeting to gain an indication of which trends and opportunities need further study. A small working party of pig farmers has already started investigating these subjects and will report on their findings later on this year.
