Fancom signs agreement with the Belgian Soundtalks
On 21 November Fancom signed the contract with the Flemish company SoundTalks. SoundTalks is a young and ambitious spin-off company of the Catholic University of Leuven, which focuses on the development of sound analysis systems for the pig industry.
With these systems they wish to enable farmers and veterinarians to continuously and automatically monitor the health status of large groups of animals, aiming for a durable improvement of the health and growth performance of the animals in the long term.
These activities fit perfectly with Fancom’s ambition for total house control to create optimal conditions, both in the house as for the operational management of the farmer. That is why Fancom closed an agreement to support SoundTalks in the next 3 years with their activities, in exchange for the exclusive sales rights of the sound analysis systems for the pig industry.
The first product is a cough monitor for fatteners which enables the farmer to detect diseases in the house in a very early stage and to treat individual animals in order to reduce the use of antibiotics. The system will be marketed in the course of 2012.
