A well controlled climate in your poultry house gives you better production results. Minimum Transitional Tunnel (MTT) is Fancom’s most extensive ventilation system that ensures an even climate in every house. Extreme weather conditions and sharply fluctuating day and night temperatures do not influence the house climate. This climate in the house adapts gradually and automatically to suit the requirements of the animals. Even with maximum occupancy and extremely high outside temperatures, the animals will continue to grow. The MTT principle is based on a gradual transition from minimum to maximum ventilation. This prevents animal stress and guarantees uninterrupted growth.

Accurate minimum ventilation improves animal performance

The first phase of the MTT ventilation concept is minimum ventilation. Minimum ventilation is essential to extract damaging waste substances such as CO2, NH3, moisture and dust and to introduce oxygen rich air. This is particularly important with young, still developing animals and in order to prevent respiratory problems. Good minimum ventilation is crucial and a condition to obtaining top performances from your animals! Air enters the house inside via air inlets at the sides of the building and is extracted by fans in the ridge or end gables. The airflow can be controlled accurately and is distributed evenly throughout the house even with low air speeds.

Transitional ventilation - a calming effect in the house

With an increasing need for ventilation the MTT- system switches to the transitional phase, the gradual transition to tunnel ventilation. The gentle transition avoids any disturbances in the air flow pattern. The are no noises caused by abruptly opening or shutting inlets, no unexpected draughts and no changes to the light intensity if tunnel inlets suddenly open. This prevents animal stress and ensures a calming atmosphere in the house. The birds do not migrate together as a group, but stay spread throughout the house. The end result is uninterrupted growth. During this phase the minimum ventilation runs on maximum and the large tunnel fans are activated, while the tunnel inlet slowly opens. The air flow gradually changes from minimum ventilation over the width of the house, to tunnel ventilation over the length of the house. The system takes the age of the animals into account and ensures airspeeds do get too high while the young birds are still developing their feathers.

Tunnel ventilation cools the house

The last phase of the MTT ventilation system is tunnel ventilation. At this stage it's important to extract the excess heat produced by the animals. The air inlets are fully closed and the tunnel inlets at the end of the house are opened as required. The fans in the rear gable are also activated. This configuration causes the so-called tunnel effect where air flows over the animals at great speed. This air flow creates a cooling breeze that usually provides sufficient cooling in a temperate climate. If required, pad cooling can also be integrated into the MTT concept. The pad cooling can be continuously adjusted depending on the needs of the animals.

Better results in poultry houses

The result of using our complete MTT ventilation system is a healthy climate for growth throughout the entire production process in poultry houses, from day-old chicks to mature birds. Cycle after cycle, the technical results confirm the improved performances in your poultry houses:

  • Up to 10% faster growth thanks to the ventilation system
  • Improved feed conversion
  • Lower mortality
  • Higher uniformity

Forward thinkers

Forward Thinkers have one foot in the present and one foot in the future. What they do, they do well. And to keep it that way, they look ahead. Can it be done differently, can it be done better than we are doing now?
