Tunnel ventilation

A system that promotes and maintains animal growth even with high outdoor temperatures.

High occupancy with high outside temperatures is a challenge for every poultry producer. In order to prevent heat stress as much as possible, it is vital to create conditions that sufficiently dissipate the heat produced by the birds. A tunnel ventilation system offers the perfect solution. The typical feature of a tunnel ventilation system is the fans installed in the rear gable of a house and an air inlet at the front of the house or vice versa. This configuration causes the so-called tunnel effect where air flows over the animals at great speed. This air flow creates a cooling breeze.

Wind chill effect prevents heat stress

The high air speeds created by tunnel ventilation remove heat from the body surface of the animals. That is the so-called wind chill effect. With a wind speed of 1.5 m/second - similar to a sea breeze - that wind chill effect can cause the actual temperature in the house of 34 degrees Celsius to feel like 24 degrees. This means the cooling effect of a high air speed can be used to prevent heat stress.

Tunnel ventilation ideal at high temperatures

This system is used in regions with high temperatures. The accurate control can adapt the air speed in the house in line with the house temperature. The system takes the age of the animals into account and ensures airspeeds do get too high while the young birds are still developing their feathers. This ensures the animals stay in their comfort zone and maintains the right levels of feed and water consumption. Tunnel ventilation safeguards uninterrupted growth of your animals.

Pad cooling combined with tunnel ventilation

In extremely hot weather conditions, the tunnel ventilation system can be supplemented with Greenline controllable pad cooling to prevent heat stress. Greenline pad cooling uses cooling units to cool the incoming air using water. The air is drawn through a plastic package, which is kept wet, installed in front of the air inlet. A major benefit of this cooling method is its capability to cool air to 7 degrees Celsius coupled with extremely low energy consumption. This allows your animals to continue to grow even at extremely high outdoor temperatures and when the house is fully occupied.

Forward thinkers

Forward Thinkers have one foot in the present and one foot in the future. What they do, they do well. And to keep it that way, they look ahead. Can it be done differently, can it be done better than we are doing now?
